Disorder screening near the Mott–Anderson transition
نویسندگان
چکیده
Correlation-driven screening of disorder is studied within the typical-medium dynamical mean-field theory (TMT–DMFT) of the Mott–Anderson transition. In the strongly correlated regime, the site energies eR characterizing the effective disorder potential are strongly renormalized due to the phenomenon of Kondo pinning. This effect produces very strong screening when the interaction U is stronger than disorder W, but applies only to a fraction of the sites in the opposite limit ðUoW Þ. r 2007 Elsevier B.V. Universal quantum criticality at the Mott-Anderson transition.
We present a large N solution of a microscopic model describing the Mott-Anderson transition on a finite-coordination Bethe lattice. Our results demonstrate that strong spatial fluctuations, due to Anderson localization effects, dramatically modify the quantum critical behavior near disordered Mott transitions. The leading critical behavior of quasiparticle wave functions is shown to assume a u...
متن کاملCritical behavior at the mott-anderson transition: a typical-medium theory perspective.
We present a detailed analysis of the critical behavior close to the Mott-Anderson transition. Our findings are based on a combination of numerical and analytical results obtained within the framework of typical-medium theory-the simplest extension of dynamical mean field theory capable of incorporating Anderson localization effects. By making use of previous scaling studies of Anderson impurit...
متن کاملAnderson-Mott transition driven by spin disorder: spin glass transition and magnetotransport in amorphous GdSi.
A zero temperature Anderson-Mott transition driven by spin disorder can be "tuned" by an applied magnetic field to achieve colossal magnetoconductance. Usually this is not possible since spin disorder by itself cannot localize a high density electron system. However, the presence of strong structural disorder can realize this situation, self-consistently generating a disordered magnetic ground ...
متن کاملMean Field Theory of the Mott-Anderson Transition
We present a theory for disordered interacting electrons that can describe both the Mott and Anderson transitions in the respective limits of zero disorder and zero interaction. We use it to investigate the T 0 Mott-Anderson transition at a fixed electron density, as the disorder strength is increased. Surprisingly, we find two critical values of disorder Wnfl and Wc. For W . Wnfl, the system...
متن کاملMott-Hubbard transition versus Anderson localization in correlated electron systems with disorder.
The phase diagram of correlated, disordered electron systems is calculated within dynamical mean-field theory using the geometrically averaged ("typical") local density of states. Correlated metal, Mott insulator, and Anderson insulator phases, as well as coexistence and crossover regimes, are identified. The Mott and Anderson insulators are found to be continuously connected.
